Self-Stitched-September Wigit: How to Get Yours

If you are one of the awesome crafters who have already signed up for the next handmade challenge, Self-Stitched-September, then may I interest you in one of these cute button/wigit things for your blog? The benefits of which include:
  • It will continually stand as your statement of intent without you needing to constantly remind your readers what you're up to (of course, you may want to do that too!).
  • Linking to the original Self-Stitched-September 'Join-me' post gives a full explanation of what it's all about and how to sign-up, meaning you won't need to repeatedly explain to your readers what it is you've sign-up for. They can click on your button and all will become clear whilst you sit back and relax.
  • It will serve to advertise the challenge to the readers of your (no doubt awesome) blog, helping us to inch closer to that 100 participant target. More is (at least in this case) merrier!
  • It will help link participants as they can see at a glance that you are 'in' when they check out your blog.
  • It's pretty cute.

So, if you would like one, follow these steps:

1# Copy the following HTML code:

<a href="http://sozowhatdoyouknow.blogspot.com/2010/05/join-me-self-stitched-september.html" target="_blank"> <img border="0" alt="Photobucket" src="http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab120/zozowahine/sss01.jpg" width="170" height="80" /> </a>

2# (This is for blogger, not sure about other blog hosts). Click on 'Customise' on your own blog; click on 'Layout'; click on 'Add Gadget'; choose HTML/Javascript; paste the code in; click on 'save changes'; ta da!!!!

Happy sewing/crafting/blogging/reading/supporting/learning/teaching and all the other awesome activities that are part of enjoying the on-line crafting community!

The widget-adding thing sounds like a challenge that's going to be more difficult than Self-Stitched September itself!!
At least to a technophobe like myself....
but I will give it a go when my internet connection is a bit faster. Ah, Australia. Theoretically a first world country, but so much to learn when it comes to that new-fangled thing called the internet.

After seeing all of the MMM successes all over bloggy world I really want to jump into SSS! I'm scared because the time of year will require me to try new things I haven't before, but what better reason?

Cool, thanks! I just put the button and pledge on my blog.

Just so you know, you have an extra /> in the html code.

Hi Zoe,
Perhaps I did something wrong, but the widget does not work as link on my page. Please help.
Thanks, Angela

I added the widget (what a great word) writing out plans for the next few months sewing leading up to September...thank you for organising all this - it's been such fun.

Thanks Amy! I was having loads of problems with this today but I think I've removed that from the code now.

Hi Angela, are you using blogger? Did you copy the whole code including the <a at the top? let me know and we'll try to figure it out

This ought to give me enough time to get more garments together and hopefully participate! All of this me-made is so inspiring, I want in!

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry, I had the html code wrong yesterday (if you added the wigit, clicking on it didn't work), I have now correctly it. If you have already applied it to the blog, please use the new html code in this post and replace the other one. So sorry! This is a massive learning curve for me!

Done!
Oh man, I'm so excited about this! My productivity at work is greatly reduced these days, though. Blame it on daydreaming about sewing, planning an autumn wardrobe and endlessly scheming about patterns and fabrics.

I am so excited! I make hair accessories so I will be wearing a different one of those each day in september! This sounds so much fun!

I've added the button to my sidebar and posted my pledge. Now it's time to get stitching! This is a great idea!

Not a chance I will be able to add a widget. Can I just, in my own special Luddite way, put a click link in my side bar???? I know I can do that.
