Me-Made-May Support Group Fabric GIVEAWAY!!!

I would like to thank everyone who entered the purple shoulder bag giveaway last week. In case this is the first you heard of it, I'll explain that I decided to give away a bag I made from vintage fabric. The criteria for entry was to complete the sentence 'I would like this bag because.........' and the winner would be chosen on it's ability to make me giggle. The winner was Ruby Star whose answer was:

"I would like this bag because i'm currently using a buzz lightyear backpack and this would make me feel & look like a grown up. It's gorgeous."

There were many great entries, but I chose the response above as it made me laugh out loud the most. For me, it conjured up the image of a lady having a hectic day and feeling frazzled. Her usual bag's handle snapped just as she was rushing out the door, and to prevent being late for wherever she was heading, she grabbed the closest receptacle she could find (her kid's backpack). She meant to find something more suitable, but days had gone by without finding the opportunity to transfer her belongings to something else! Of course, I have no idea if that is an accurate representation of events, but it made me happy! The two other strong contenders were Carmencita B and Purpleness. Sorry ladies, you were close!

Time for another giveaway. This week's is open only to members of the Me-Made-May Support Group (i.e, people who have taken up the Me-Made-May challenge). Sorry everyone else, I promise I will have many more giveaways open to all in the very near future, don't be hatin'. I am giving away this piece of beige (fawn? taupe? I'm not very good at naming colours) 100% cotton. I must say that it's frikkin' nice. It has a lovely slightly crispy yet still soft handle, a gentle sheen and an interesting diagonal weave. It's a bulk sample from the same clothing company haul that I mentioned here. To be honest I can't be bothered to measure it (what? I'm sitting down all comfy with my laptop nicely warming my lap) but there is easily enough to make a skirt, shorts of maybe even a pair of narrow legged cropped capri pants. 'So why are you giving it away then, Zo?' I hear you ask. I'm a pale skinned English girl and these subtle pale tones look rubbish on me, plus I personally have an aversion to preppy styles and this reminds me a little of Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfiger and I can't shake the association. No offence meant if that style is your thing, different strokes for different folks and all.

My camera is pretty rubbish at accurately portraying colours (does this happen to everyone?), but with some 'shopping I think this image is a fairly true representation of the colour (just read the sample label attached which refers to the colour as #52 Wood Beige, FYI):

A close up of the texture (colour not very accurate in this close up pap):

Anyway, I thought it might be nice ammunition for some Me-Made-May warrior out there fighting on the frontline of the war against mass-produced monotony. If you are participating in MMM and fancy receiving this fabric, no expense on your part required, just leave a comment completing the following sentence: 'If I received this fabric, I would make.........'. I'll choose a winner at midnight Friday 7th May. And don't worry, if I choose your entry, I won't hold you to fullfilling your statement!

Hi Zoe

Stopped by today to check out the first of your May outfits. Can see you haven't posted it yet, but just thought I'd let you know how much I'm looking forward to following you through the month again.

I haven't signed up myself, as I don't have any me-made clothing yet. However, under your inspiration I have just started my first skirt. Wish me luck - and good luck for you this month.

If I receive this fabric, I would make an awesome neutral skirt (or maybe capris...) to save all of the sad orphan tops yearning to be freed from my closet.

Wow, so excited, thank you for chosing me to win the gorgeous purple bag. You just about have it right. I emptied out my practical & pretty handbag to carry around a lovely nappy bag for a while and when nappies were no longer needed or the big nappy bag, I needed a bag to carry my goods as well as the smalls and well the buzz backpack was it. yes, iv'e been places with it without my kids! So I cannot wait to move into a proper grown ups bag. Thanks a bunch. xox

If I recieve this fabric I would also make a skirt because I need to save the world's eyesight from all the multicoloured tops and bottoms I have been making, I have a tendency to look rather like an accident in a fabric printing factory when they are worn together!! I need a bit of calm to balnce my colour.

We weren't meant to do this 10 words were we?!?

If I were to become the new owner of this fabric, I would attempt to make a pair of capris, possibly Audry Hepburn style pants to wear with my many non-me-made tops to help me get through MMM.

If I received this fabric, I would make some kicking calf length pants that are slim with a invisible zipper. I've got the perfect pattern in mind!

P.S. I'm having a blast with this Me Made May challenge. Thanks for asking us to join in the fun!
