Me-Made Purple Shoulder Bag GIVEAWAY!!!

Do you remember that last Saturday I hosted a giveaway for a tunic dress I made that didn't fit me? Well, I'm am very pleased to announce that the random generator (generator.com, FYI) picked Chase, who happens to have a very sweet blog called Oh the Cuteness!.

Giveaways are so much fun that I've decided I'm going to have a few more, one at a time, for a few weeks to pass on some stuff that I'm currently not using, in preparation for my cross-continent move. This week I'm offering up this unused shoulder bag I made from vintage fabric. A few years back, I used to have a stall at a handmade market in East London and have made a squillion of these particular bags in my time, usually in vintage fabric scored from charity shops of ebay. I have used these bags every day myself for years now, so can vouch for their practicality.

The outer fabric is a sturdy synthetic of unknown type, probably from the late 1960's/early 1970's, in shades of purple, lilac, burgundy and white. It is fully lined with vintage floral printed cotton in coordinating lilacs, pinks and white. The black label you can see shows the name of my little accessories brand, 'Electric Pussycat'.

If you would like this bag, either for yourself or as a gift for someone, and can promise me it will actually get used, then here's what you do: leave a comment on this post completing the sentence 'I would like this bag because.........'. I'll pick my favourite at midnight Thursday 29th April. Hint: a successful answer has to make me giggle. Good luck!

As my daughter would say, "That purse is purplicious!". Who doesn't want their 4 year old to think they are cool? This purse would make me the way coolest mom at the playground (in the eyes of my preschool peeps anyway).

I would like this bag because... I've always wanted a purple pussycat! It encompasses two wonderful things for me: chocolate (because here in Germany there's a brand of chocolate that's wrapped purple and has a purple cow as a logo) and sweet little pussycats!

I would like this bag because I have two cats who would love a purple sister that is electrifying! No, seriously - I love BIG BAGS and I cannot LIE! I need color like this and vintage fabric makes it even better!

I would like this bag because...I am particularly passionate about purple in every shade from prune to plum to periwinkle and this particular purse of perfection would be a positively pleasing prerequisite for my purple-less purse problem.

In other words, I would love it and hug it and call it George.

Thanks!

I would like this bag because I'm currently down to one purse for every day use and I was just trying to figure out what to replace the worn out ones with.

oh I would love to send this bag to my sister who lives in Spain and who is sewing some nice stuff for me. I'm just a beginner at sewing. She would be very surprised what a lovely bag I made. Later on she would just smile when she sees it's made by you :-)

I'm not going to make you laugh.

I just entered because my mom saw the blog up and said "Oh my, I love that bag!"

Since she is so computer illiterate as to only remember DOS, I decided to enter for her.

Oh Oh, heart beating fast, fingers flying, rushing to tell you "I would like this bag because" - it is vintage fabric, it is purple, it has flowers, YOU made it, you live in Spain, Cristina De Prada, Madhatter Wannabe, lives in Spain, I want desperately to visit her; but will never get far from "the farm" here in rural Minnesota USA, sooooooo, this bag may be the closest thing related to Spain that I will ever touch. It will be taken to town when we go in on Wednesdays, cause I dress and strut my stuff - coordinating accessories to clothing. No longer matchy matchy as that is now OUT. Still, THIS purse will accent marvelous purple wideleg pants - both pants and purse have pleats that hide a center bulge. It will however, require, push, inspire a new hat creation. If you can get me off my duff, away from the computer, and into the studio, the dog will bark, the cats will mew, the cows will moo and the bull will trumpet. (Well they will for sure, if I head to the studio, when ol farmer is delivering fresh cut grass to the cows. - He takes them the grass cuttings, cause even in good grazing days, they think tender lawn grass is cow candy.)

Well ok, hope you giggled. If not, and you still read the whole spiel, thanks. Have a great move and a happy day. Jane

I would like this bag because I'm selfish and it would make me ridiculously happy to a) win something so cute and b)have it arrive in the mail. No really, it would.

I would like this bag because of the anonymous poem about a woman getting old and wearing purple. I would love this bag because I could carry it with everything and I am old (over 50) and this is a lovely purple bag to use.

This bag reminds me of my favorite flowers, all purple, that have decorated the spring season-- little early spring irises and crocuses, then the deep regal hyacinths-- and now little violets and big full lilacs!

I would like this bag because it is purple and so gosh darn cute. I would love it and take very good care of it. Most importantly I would USE it. Half my wardrobe is purple and it would look so good with my vintage magentas, eggplants, and violets.

I would like this bag because on a bad day or possibly week, I bought a bag my grandmother would own. Not my cool, hip grandmother but the one who wears those ankle lenght pantyhose, orlon pantsuits and crepe soled shoes. Stop the madness.

I would love to win your perfect purple piece of pleasantness, because I would love to carry it with me everyday and have it with me at my drab grab desk in my drab gray cubicle to remind me of the world of color and creativity that awaits me when I clock out.

I would like this bag because I could never sew that well myself!

I would like this bag because in short it's awesome!

I would like this bag because it is beautiful. My current bag is one I sewed myself several years ago, and it's so old it looks like I pulled it out of a dumpster. Everyone I know knows that I made it, so by using it, I'm giving a bad name to sewers everywhere! If I won this bag, people would realize that handmade things can be attractive! :P

I would like this bag because I have recently come out of hospital and your bag has cheered me up immensely, with its attractive bold floral beautiful shades of purpleness.

Lilac, burgundy and purple have been my colours since I was a kid. I’m known as a ‘Purple Person’, for always wearing one of these shades to complement my vintage style, so the bag will match any outfit I wear.

I love hand made bags for their uniqueness and longevity. I have not been able to make a new much-needed bag for some time due to illness. My only one bag is broken, but I still have to use it.

Your bag will certainly stop traffic, well at least long enough to allow me to slowly cross the road. Winning it would be like being awarded a ‘Purple Heart’.

I would like this bag because it spoke to me in a dream. It said : I am yours, for now and forever. Claim me!
It also told me it doesn't need to be fed, taken to school, fed, played with, fed, bathed and that it had no clothes to wash.
I want to see if the bag lied to me!
