Wendy's Pattern Stash: EU-only Giveaway!!!!

**PLEASE NOTE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR ENTERING**

Before Christmas a lovely lady and reader of my blog Wendy contacted me with a bit of a dilemma, here's what she wrote:

'Today I've been rethinking my future sewing plans and have cleared out my small pattern stash. I have 13 patterns (most used, some not) that I know I will never use, they are all women's clothing. Sadly here in Luxembourg we have no charity shops to which I can donate them and I have no sewing community either. Being a follower of your blog I know that you are involved in the sewing community in Brighton and give classes etc. I wonder if you, your students or your favourite charity shop could use these patterns.'

After some emailing back and forth, we agreed that the best way for all these lovely patterns to reach a new owner who would really want to use them would be to hold a giveaway. Wendy has no blog of her own (yet!) so we agreed to host the giveaway here on my blog, and she will very kindly post the patterns to one winner who lives anywhere in the EU completely free of charge! Damn, there's a very lucky potential winner out there right now...

Here's what's on offer and what condition they are in:

New look 6945  8-18 uncut
Colette Clover 0-18 cut to size 18
Burda 8361 6-18 cut to size 18
New Look 6104 10-22 cut to 16/18
Vogue 8634 Lrg/XL  cut
New Look 6885 8-18 view E cut to 16/18
Vogue 7837 L/XL uncut
Simplicity 2508 14-22 some pieces cut to 16/18
Burda Style 7239 10-20 cut to 18
New Look 6669 8-18 skirt cut to 18
Style Arc Samantha 16 cut
New Look 6937 10-22 view E cut 16/18
McCalls 4769 12-18 uncut

The cut patterns will still be intact and usable for sizes smaller she cut. Look the numbers up on Pattern Review if you would like to know more about each style.

As mentioned above, all these patterns will be re-homed to one single lucky recipient. To enter, let Wendy and I know why you'd like to receive these patterns in the comment section below. If I can't access your email address within two clicks of the mouse, please include it in your entry comment. Email addresses will not be used for anything other than to contact you if you are the winner of this giveaway. This giveaway is open to residents of EU countries only and the winner will receive all the sewing patterns completely free of charge. The giveaway entry period will close at midnight GMT Sunday 20th January 2013 and the winner will be chosen and contacted by Wednesday 23rd January. Good luck, my pattern-loving friends!

Oh, what a wonderful giveaway - i will try my luck :)

I would like to get the pattern, because I've especially vintage patterns and need a little more experience with designs and tailors generally to be able to sew them. And normal pattern are perfect for practicing.

The reason I'd like to win is that I haven't used neither New Look, McCall's nor Pattern Runway patterns, because they're not sold here in Estonia and shopping online for patterns would mean I had to pay a fortune for shipping costs.

My email address is esta (dot) prangel (at) gmail (dot) com

As they're in my size, it would be rude not to enter so please count me in. Mirce75@googlemail.com

Oh, amazing giveaway!!! Thank you girls!
I'd like to win these patterns because I've started to sew clothes for myself in 2012 and this is I want to learn more about sewing clothes and patterns.
And some of these patterns you are offering aren't available here in Italy!

Yep, my size so I could actually use them! Seriously, I have not been sewing to myself enough lately, only for my daughter or as gifts, so I made a New Year's resolution to make more wearable garments for myself this year.

Thanks for the giveaway!

Hi! I live in Poland and about a year ago I've started sewing. I started my own blog and I feel like the happiest person in the world because FINALLY (after years of searching) I have found my HOBBY. I am aware that while sewing I make a lot of mistakes and I try to learn from them as much as posiible and EVERY TIME I FALL I STAND UP (if one may say so about sewing failures :) ).
These patterns would help me to learn even more, to try new fabrics, new sizes - my dream is to make something for my Mom. I've already tried but nothing I made siuted her. Maybe this time?
Hope you're well!

What a kind gesture of Wendy! I'm not entering her give-away, but I just wanted to say that I'll keep her idea in the back of my mind, because I do have a lot of patterns and perhaps I've got to sift thru the ones I didn't really like or will be sewing again and do something familiar. It's a great, inspiring idea!

So generous of Wendy! I'd love to be considered for the win. It's been a tough 2012, physically and financially but I'm ready for this year and Wendy's patterns would be the best starting point.

What a really lovely and generous giveaway! Real gems of patterns there! :-)

I volunteer for "Reworked for Oxfam" in Reading and we would make fabulous use of these new/almost new patterns.

All the items for "Reworked for Oxfam" are created, by volunteers, from donated and recycled materials. Some are Reworked, others made from scratch. Each piece is unique. All the profits made from sales are donated to Oxfam.

I can't find a link for our Reworked stuff but here is Oxfam's page - http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/local-shops/oxfam-shop-caversham/

Thanks for the chance to win,

Lisa (lisacdolan at gmail dot com)

What a lovely idea. I have been making a few dresses for myself from vintage patterns and have realised I need tops and more casual clothes - SATM not dripping with glamour you see. I am not familiar with NEW LOOK but those look just the ticket for everyday

Its funny. Looking at the picture of these patterns they seem to cover all the targets I have been mentally setting myself this year.
1. Coat
2. Jersey top
3. Trousers
4. Underwear
And there are top patterns, cake. I'm not good when it comes to buying cake patterns :-) which is my last target of the year. Try to make more clother I can wear on a day to day basis.

Thanks for your generousity!

Hi, I would love to win because these are all fairly new patterns and most of mine are from the seventies and eighties. It would mean that I could invite the girls over and offer to make them something - I think I may have previously scared them off with my full skirts and puff sleeves! :)

Thats so nice!
As a beginner (I am only on my 2nd sewing project ever!) I would love the challenge of sewing up those pieces!

Thanks

I'd love to enter! I would like them because, although some of the patterns already suit my style some do not and this year I am trying to look beyond the pattern envelope as I think I can be blinkered by that sometimes. I think I could get some really great results from using a pattern in a different way. These would be a great way for me to get started, I could challenge myself to use every single one to create something that is my style!

What a generous giveaway! I would donate the patterns on to a friend in Serbia who is a wonderful seamstress but has struggled financially her whole life from lack of opportunity and discrimination. I live next door to Luxembourg myself!

I'll try to set up an easy contact function on the blog I am linking, but if it doesn't work, could you perhaps consider leaving a comment at the top post?

I'd love to win this. I am sewing on a very tight budget and am working from a bunch of old 70's and 80's patterns I got from my mother in law. I can't justify buying these patterns but I would LOVE a chance to win them and make some more... contemporary clothes :) And they're all in my size so it would be amazing to win these!

What a generous offer from Wendy and you! I am a relatively new sewist (I just completed 1 year of sewing) and from these pattern companies only Burda is available in Greece, where I live. Of course, you can always order them online, but then the shipping alsmost doubles their cost. I would be glad to try my skills to new designs!

What a treasure, I would love to get my hands on these patterns. Since I only used patterns from burda magazine before, this would realy simplify my life. Plus I'm from Belgium, so they would stay close to home.

My newyears resolution is to only use my fabric stash and to not buy anything commersialy made. My problem is that I don't have very many patterns and I see several in the pic that would be perfect! I think it is super nice of you guys to do this and I am keeping my fingers crossed I think it is said in english? In Sweden that means lying, so I will keep my fingers crossed in english and hold my thumbs (wich is the swedish version of hoping to win) in swedish :) I would also take this oppertunity to tell you that I made your camisole from my boyfriends old t-shirt and I think that it is the sweater I get the most compliments for! Have a nice evening. //Paulina (email: paulina.hesselgren[at]outlook.com)

I live in Brussels. If Wendy wishes to meet other sewers and would like to contact me, I can let her know when we have occasional meet-ups. We are a small but expanding group of sewers from Netherlands,Belgium, sometimes Germany, and of course the UK. (Our nationalities are many but we all speak English.) Meet-ups usually are loosely based on a sewing-related event (fabric market, fashion exhibition, visiting sewist,...) and "develop" from there. Our last get together was a sewing weekend in Broadstairs in October.
For information, I lived in Luxembourg for many years, myself.
My e-mail is sheila(dot) cumming (at)gmail (dot) com.

Well, after taking up dressmaking in order to make clothes that actually fit my 'over-large' figure, I have now lost weight and need smaller patterns! BUT, more importantly, I have two beautiful teenaged daughters, both of whom have taken textiles as their options at school. It is a joy to be able to try and share with them the idea that we can all dress as individuals, rather than wearing poorly made overpriced 'fashion' from chain stores. They are just beginning to see how attractive the prospect of 'making their own' is; so if we did win, there woulod actually be three winners rather than one.
Whoever does win, I am sure they will make good use of the patterns, you are very generous :)

Unknown said...

Oooo, I'd love a chance to win these lovely patterns :)

I'd like to win them as I'm at-the-moment learning to sew my own clothes in what is going to be our most low budget/frugal year yet.

My clothes sewing is coming on gradually, and I'd love some quality patterns to try :)

Thankyou kindly for the chance :)
