**THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED BUT THE DISCOUNT CODE IS STILL VALID UNTIL THE END OF JULY 2013!!!**
I loves me a giveaway round these parts! Here is another celebratory giveaway courtesy of a fabulous new sewing website called The Polished Button. You may be questioning the need for another website selling sewing products, but this one is special. They aim to offer a ‘one stop shop’ where you can find authentic and vintage inspired fabrics, haberdashery and patterns all in one place. So if you are into sewing vintage/retro looks, or simply fancy finding something a bit different from the usual sewing department offerings, The Polished Button is a great place to visit on a regular basis. Personally, I've found the site to be well-designed, easy to navigate and the stock well curated. And the owner is super-sweet and very helpful, plus she's crazy-knowledgable about all things vintage.
The Prize:
The Polished Button are very generously offering a fabulous prize for one lucky winner consisting of 1 metre of this lovely and unusual black and white star detail gingham fabric (pictured above) plus a set of four matching black vintage buttons (pictured below).

There isn't much stock on there atm. My fav was the blue grey fabric with strawberrys on it.

I like the vintage patterns section, since they are rather hard to find where I live.
In the fabric section I really liked the blue strawberry print cotton poplin and the gingham star fabric is also fabulous!
I love this bias trim which is different than anything I've seen

There are some lovely bits and pieces on the site (especially the buckles) but this fabric:
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/orange-brown-ditsy-floral-peachskin-polyester/
really reminds me of a dress my Nainy used to wear, and I love brown and orange together.
The black and white star gingham would make a fab Picnic Blanket skirt wouldn't it? :)
I love their vintage florals. This one is very pretty.

I love the patterns! http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1960s-simplicity-8614-dress-pattern-size-16-bust-38/ is the one i would pick.

So many lovely things. Firstly, I love how they're selling vintage patterns and buttons! But, mostly I love this cotton poplin fabric:

It's so pretty, and I love strawberries on fabric. It would make a really cute shirt or day dress. adriprints(at)yahoo(dot)com
I eyed-up a handful of vintage patterns and some buttons too but this red cotton poplin got me really excited.

Think I might need to go and buy some...
I know others have mentioned this one before me but I just LOVE the Blue Strawberry Print Cotton Poplin http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/blue-strawberry-print-cotton-poplin/. In fact, I may use the discount code to purchase some. I'm dreaming of a flouncy summer skirt! :) anneofjulie@hotmail.com
There's some lovely things on their site - it's a really good concept too. Having said that the pattern I like best is http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1970s-dress-pattern-multi-size-10-16/ because I love the idea that the NotW was innocent enough back in the day to give away dress patterns rather than their recent slightly less salubrious efforts... Although I suppose that pattern does have a little sauce?
Brushed cotton fabric for me!

Love the choices on bias binding! Especially this leopard print one!
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/leopard-print-cotton-bias-binding-25mm/
I like the dark pink corduroy http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/dark-pink-corduroy/ not very seasonal, but if I only sewed seasonal clothes, I'd never finish in time to wear them.

I especially liked the vintage patterns. I was particularly taken with this cute dress from the News of the World! http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1970s-dress-pattern-multi-size-10-16/
lace edged bias binding?!
Loved their selection of pretty bias binding!

Love these buttons http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1960s-brown-leather-football-buttons-x-5/
They remind me of a green wool cardigan I 'borrowed' from my dad and wore relentlessly as a teenager. The buttons were exactly like these except one of them had hamster teeth marks! LOL!!
Thanks for the opportunity! Love your site! That red gingham is hands down the cutest thing I have seen!

What a cool website! I love this trim the best I think: http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1950s-white-crochet-lace-1-85m/
Ooh, some things on there! I love the striped chambray, and I actually really like this pattern:
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1970s-dress-pattern-size-12-34-bust/
One of those '70s does '40s ones that could easily be made into something really pretty. I might have to buy it anyway now lol.
I love the floral printed fabrics in the site !! THis one was my favourite :) http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/yellow-floral-print-polycotton/
Oh that gingham is gorgeous! I love these 1920's glass buttons http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1920s-yellow-carved-glass-buttons-x-2/
The black and white circle print http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/black-white-circle-print-cotton/ is so fun and cool! It would be a cute shirtdress with red trim and buttons - or purple to shake things up a bit.
Oh this was a dangerous website to be introduced too..... I would love o make myself a 1950's inspired dress. and this one looks fabulous! http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-vogue-v2960-dress-pattern/
caroline.swarbrick@gmail.com
Thanks! xx
It's all so nice, but I seem to be drawn to the black and white ones (I'm not a big floral wearer). If I don't win I'm going to have to buy some of the gingam with stars (http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/black-white-gingham-star-print-cotton/) and if I do I'll have an excuse to buy more. I'm also looking at the black and white floral crepe ((http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/black-white-floral-print-crepe/) and the black and white circle print (http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/black-white-circle-print-cotton/). Then I'd need some buttons to go with them. Maybe some patterns.
Thanks for the code!

It's a lovely website, and I think my fabric fabric is probably this 1950s floral - http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1950s-floral-fruit-print-cotton/
Some very nice things there. I like this: http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/grey-pink-rose-print-cotton/,
grey and pink floral cotton.
Thanks for the giveaway.
I think the customized remnant packs are lovely...and I have to admit I love browsing their antique lace.
I really love the grey/rose 1950s fabric. http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/grey-pink-rose-print-cotton/
My email: senjivastudio@gmail.com
I feel a bit cheeky entering this, since I recently one fabric directly from Ruth herself, but this fabric is so cute, I have to try again!
There is so much to choose from, but I love these buttons because they would brighten up a blouse or jacket so much!
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/vintage-1920s-yellow-carved-glass-buttons-x-2/
*Won*, not "one"! :)
The gray and pink rose print would have to be my favorite! I also love the bias binding selection :)
I love the grey and rose print http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/grey-pink-rose-print-cotton/
Great website, I loved the idea of a pattern from NOTW- they may become a collector's item, if not already! But my fav was the polka dot bias binding
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/black-and-white-polka-dot-spotty-bias-binding/
In fact, so much so, I'm going back to order some now.
I love this buckle http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/1960s-silver-metal-patterned-buckle/ but also really like the black & red embroidered cotton remnant and the star gingham.
Those 1920s carved yellow buttons. Wow!
Well, that kept me occupied for a nice long time! What a lot of very lovely things. I was really taken with the red and white striped cotton with the lace trim. http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/red-whit-floral-stripe-cotton-with-lace-trim/
I love this red and white floral fabric! So many pretty things on this site.
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/red-white-floral-print-polyester/
http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/white-broderie-anglaise-cotton/ I really love a bit of broderie anglaise now. Feeling summery! My email is laurensews@gmail.com
Great to see so many vintage buttons for sale but I adore the bias binding, great for my summer dress project... http://www.thepolishedbutton.co.uk/shop/purple-paisley-print-cotton-bias-binding-25mm/
