Giveaway Monday: Me-Made Rockabilly Swallow Skirts!!

** UPDATE: THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED**

A bunch of time ago I made a range of cute skirts to sell. First I tried to sell them on a market stall in London, with little success. Then I tried to sell them on Etsy, also with little success but I did nothing to promote or re-list them so that was not very surprising. Then when I started to organise a Brighton-based craft market, I sold some of them there. And finally I stocked the remainder in the awesome Handmade Co-op shop in Brighton (RIP) with much more success. Hurrah!

Right now our little one bedroom flat is stuffed to the gunnels with (my) stuff and I've been having a hunt for items that can be given a new home. During this hunt I found the final few pieces from my skirt range and thought maybes some of my lovely blog readers would like them, rather than stuffing them back in the cupboard!

Today's giveaway is for the final two Rockabilly Swallow A-line mini-skirts. I've got one left in each of the colour ways I made them in: a rich, tomato-y red and a dove grey. Both are a 'Medium', but in reality that's pretty freakin' small.

The waists measure 33.5", so if the level you like to wear your skirts at measures a bit smaller than that, then these should fit you (or whoever you'd like to give one of these to) just fine. They measure 13" from waistline to hem, pretty damn short!

They are made from a poly-cotton blend and have contrast cotton gingham facings. They fasten with a concealed side zip. The swallows are leather appliqués, I'd recommend a gentle hand wash in case the leather dye leaks. Some of these skirts have been washed many many times with no problems, but a couple have released dye when machine-washed. What can I say? You're getting these for free!

To enter the giveaway to get one of these skirts, just leave a comment in the comments section of this post telling me which colour you'd prefer and what you'd do with it if you won (e.g, you'd give it to a loved one; you'd wear it with some killer platforms, etc... not for any particular reason, I'm just nosey). If I can't access your email address within two clicks, please include it in your entry comment. Email addresses will not be used for anything other than to contact you if you are one of the two lucky winners of this giveaway. This giveaway is open internationally and the winners will receive the skirt completely free of charge. The giveaway entries will close at midnight GMT Sunday 11th November and the winners will be chosen by random number generator and contacted Monday 12th November October. Good luck, my skirt-wearing friends!

Darn, small and short. I still want that red one. And if I do win that one, then a skinner version of me is going to wear it with high heels in my dreams. In reality, I'll gift it to my goddaughter.

I am loving the grey - probably because the facing is such a nice contrast which I always love because it is not visible when worn but a special touch for the wearer! I would wear it with thick patterned tights and denim doc martens. And a Me Made top!

Oooo, I like them both! If I won I'd pick the red one and wear it on Christmas day. And make a top to match :)

OOOOH! Skirts! Swallows! Giveaway!!!!

Erm, I would wear the grey one, with my sloppy grey jumper and a black polo, thick black tights and grey suede boots. And my Tatty Devine swallow earrings...

The red one is lush, I'd like that one please. Well stupidly (or awesomely) my band took a support slot the same night my fave band is playing (we'd already bought tickets) so I'd wear it for the gig dash night of one gig to another :-)

Those are cool! I love them both but for that rockabilly style I think it has to be the red one! h(d)olivia(d)hart(a)gmail(d)com

Great skirts! I'm not necessarily one for the mini mini skirts, but these are so great I'd have to make an exception ;)

That being said, I REALLY like the grey one - it would fit in quite nicely with my personal style. i'd wear it with my favourite teal bow-top (or a sumptuous teal silk/cotton colette sencha when i get around to making it. . .), black leggings (for some modesty) and my killing new boots (and coat/scarf/mitts. cause it's getting cold here in Toronto!). Cause I'm selfish and I'd totally keep it all to myself!

If I won I would give the skirt to my daughter Dawn. She is young enough and has enough love of life and dressing with flair, to give the skirt the life it deserves.

Ooh, how exciting, a giveaway! I'm short anyway, so mini-skirts don't usually appear that teeny on me. I'd probably wear the red skirt with a pair of ruffly bloomers peeking out of the bottom.

I'm a petite gal, so the skirt length would be perfect for me. I'd love to win the red one and I think it would look fantastic with my black lace up boots!

I'd wear the red one on Christmas day with my new black polo neck and thick woolly tights!

Hi! The grey one would be fantastic (having just made a red skirt!) with the pink button back blouse (with lace peter pan collar) that I'm nearly finished, some cream cable knit tights and boots that I want for my birthday, next month!

Sorry, how rude. Forgot to say thank you very much for the opportunity, these are beautiful - I love anything with a bird on it!

So cute! My first pick would be the red one; I'd wear it with leggings and my new brown boots. The gray one I'd wear with opaque black tights!

Wow! How cute! I love both colors. My husband always wants me to wear shorter skirts, so he'll love it if I win. If they don't fit well, I'll gift them to my best friend, who like to wear things a bit lower on her waist/hips than me. Thanks for offering the giveaway!

Cute! Has anyone seen the show Portlandia--- "Put a bird on it!" :)

I would wear the RED skirt with a sassy black top and some black ankle boots. But both colors look great!

I love the red - I would (attempt to) wear it with black tights, knee-high flat boots and a turtleneck, and try to convince myself it's "work appropriate"!!

Love the red or the grey. I plan to give it to a young lady who works at the library and is very much rockabilly inclined. Lindahyans@gmail.com

Those area adorable! I especially love the red one. They're a bit short for me (or maybe it's that I'm too tall for them!) but my sister would look fabulous in either of them.

I like the grey one! I would wear it black tights and boots. And a sweater. Perhaps I would let my sister wear it, she would really like this. Thank you!

What a wonderful giveaway - it always amazes me when lovely items like this are not purchased! I love them both - your choice - and if I am the lucky duck, the skirt will be given to my daughter. She is lovely and petite and the busy mother of two kiddos under five who too rarely treats herself.

oooohhhh, too cute. I would love the grey one and i would be totally keeping it for myself. It's heading into summer here in NZ so i'd be wearing it with my fluoro orange sandals and black tee with baby pink leopard print cardi. vanessa [dot] mcwilliams [at] springer [dot] com

I'm almost pleased that my backlog in reader means that I've come to this after it has closed, it has saved me the heartache of knowing that it would never fit me and I have no one to give it to and that I couldn't comment in case I won it by mistake and then had to be sad about that. Instead, I will be "inspired by it" (that's the polite phrase for plagiarise isn't it?) Absolutely fabulous.
