I wonder how many times they were worn before she grew weary of them and sent them my way to be worn to ribbons! That is just astonishing. Four time. For something that someone (likely for little or no money and in poor conditions) labored over!

And congrats on your inclusion in this very needed public discussion!!BLD in MThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06449967376288331137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2464662522153586853.post-24175227544319803752019-02-24T16:23:13.244+00:002019-02-24T16:23:13.244+00:00A real investment in sewing a garment slowly and c...A real investment in sewing a garment slowly and carefully definitely pays off. I have recently made the carolyn PJs and although they took me ages, I know they will indeed last ages because I pre-washed the fabric (no shrinkage) cut it out on the grain properly (no twisting) and the design choice has longevity. But I understand that home sewing is not without its waste. Great post as ever. I've definitely moved from fast fashion to fast sewing to attempting-sustainable sewing over the past few years. None of us are perfect, but I'm trying to make more and more conscious choices and definitely manage more than 4 wears! Goodness me, how is that feasible? I've got items I've been wearing constantly for the past 15 years that are still going strong. I'm trying to use second hand fabrics, or at least non-polyester and sustainable where possible, and experimenting with using scraps to stuff things and for trims etc. It's not easy, but every step we take is a positive one, so I try to focus on being better each time, not perfect in one go. Thank you for all the inspiration, it really makes a difference!Liz Wnoreply@blogger.com
